How we work
How we work
A clear, four-phase process designed to reduce risk, eliminate waste, and deliver software that actually solves your problem. No surprises, no bloat.
Understand
We learn your business, your users, and the real problem.
Every project starts with listening. Before we write a single line of code, we need to understand what your business does, who your users are, and what problem you're actually trying to solve — not just the symptoms.
This phase typically involves a discovery call, a review of any existing systems or processes, and honest conversation about what success looks like. We ask a lot of questions because the right question early on saves weeks of wasted effort later.
By the end of this phase, we both have a clear picture of the problem and whether building software is the right answer.
What you get
- Problem definition document
- Scope and feasibility assessment
- Honest recommendation on whether to proceed
Shape
Define the smallest useful solution. No bloat, no unnecessary complexity.
Once we understand the problem, we shape the solution. This means defining what to build, what to leave out, and in what order. The goal is always the smallest thing that delivers real value.
We map out user flows, define the technical architecture, and identify any risks or unknowns before development begins. You'll see wireframes or sketches — not pixel-perfect mockups that take weeks — so we can move quickly and stay aligned.
Shaping is where we make the hard trade-offs. It's easier to add features later than to remove complexity from something overbuilt.
What you get
- Solution outline and architecture
- Prioritised scope with clear phases
- Timeline and investment estimate
Build
Design and engineer with visible milestones. You see progress every week.
We build in short cycles with regular check-ins. You'll see working software — not slide decks — as the project progresses. This keeps feedback loops tight and ensures we're building the right thing.
Design and development happen together. We don't hand off a design to a separate team; the person designing the interface is the person building it. This eliminates the gap between what was designed and what gets shipped.
Throughout the build phase, you have direct access to the person doing the work. No project managers relaying messages, no lost-in-translation moments.
What you get
- Working software, deployed incrementally
- Weekly progress updates
- Direct communication with the engineer building it
Improve
Measure what matters, iterate on what works, and scale when ready.
Launching is not the finish line. Once your software is live, we measure how it's performing, gather feedback from real users, and identify what to improve next.
Some projects need ongoing iteration. Others need a clean handover with documentation so your team can take it forward. We support both — and we'll be honest about which approach makes sense for you.
Whether it's performance optimisation, new features, or scaling infrastructure, we're available for the long term. Many of our best engagements are ongoing partnerships, not one-off builds.
What you get
- Post-launch review and performance assessment
- Documentation and handover (if applicable)
- Ongoing support and iteration roadmap
